Codex usage limits reset again on October 28, the second reset in three days

OpenAI reset Codex usage limits again on October 28. Tibo (Thibault Sottiaux, who leads Codex at OpenAI) announced it at 02:42 UTC as the 23rd entry in his daily series of updates, opening with a fake-out: "Much requested iCloud Main & Calendar plugins. Just kidding, today is a reset."

In a reply he said the reset "lands by midnight PST". At 06:29 UTC he confirmed it had finished: "And it's done. See you tomorrow for some good news." He did not say what the good news is, so we won't guess.

It was the second reset in three days. On October 26, at 05:21 UTC, the Day 21 post read: "Wonder what happens the remaining seven days. But today is a reset." Before that came the Day 20 reset on October 25, which we covered at the time.

As with the earlier resets, the posts don't say which plans are included, how much usage comes back, or whether both the five-hour and weekly windows are cleared. Individual resets aren't on offer either: OpenAI's help center says support cannot reset ChatGPT or Codex limits, only investigate usage that was counted incorrectly.

The timing matters for one group in particular. According to OpenAI's Pro plans help page, grandfathered Pro 200 subscribers keep their previous included allowance only through October 29, 2026. After that they move to a lower allowance at the same $200 price. OpenAI's public page doesn't give the new figure. Reports based on the email sent to affected subscribers, including The Next Web's, put the Codex and ChatGPT Work allowance at 10x Plus instead of 20x. For them, this reset refilled an allowance they have for one more day.
